Nora Mitnick

As Mellon’s senior director of grants management, Nora Mitnick leads and provides the strategic direction for the Foundation’s grants management team and helps to oversee the Foundation’s grantmaking practices and policies, grants systems, and grantmaking data.

Previously, Nora served as the senior manager, grants management and program operations, at the Russell Sage Foundation, a foundation devoted exclusively to research in the social sciences. While at Russell Sage, she led the grants management team and the implementation of the foundation’s grant management system. Nora has also worked within the executive office of Helen Keller International, an international organization focused on preventing blindness and malnutrition, where she managed the board, executive office, and the organization’s strategic planning efforts.

She holds a BA in political science from Roger Williams University and an MPA in public and nonprofit management from New York University’s Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service.
